This may be the only work related blog I post, but I just had to show this. It is too funny!

I imagine that everybody has, somewhere in their life, seen a construction guy compacting dirt before concrete or something is poured. Generally, this is a 3 foot tall hand operated machine that houses a vertical oscilating device which pounds the soil down tightly. (see picture).
This short video clip is how it is done in China.

Hey S'mitch - I remember that tool! Speaking of... please see if you can gather a few good safety video clips... will be fun at the next departmental safety mtg. I have a few that I will be converting analog-to-digital as part of my archiving New Year's resolution... maybe we can share; no one would know whether it was 1993 or 2008!
Favorites:
...400-women pulling wire on top of the pipe rack (40-ft off the ground)... all in unison like they were rowing across the Pacific.
...Hand-fab of the open-end wrench needed for today's job.
...Movement of 4,000 cu-yd of concrete by hand.
...Architectural team finishing the wall just in time for the electrical guy to chisel-out a slot for his conduit.
...Structural team finishing the outside wall just in time for the Arch'l team to cut-out the windows.
