The restaurant was "Cafe Firenze. A sort of Chinese meets Italy meets France. I met the owner a lady named Tang Su (told me to call her TJ). She was born in Chengdu, lived in Hong Kong and educated in of all places UNC - Chapel Hill. I was, in fact, wearing my Tech shirt and she did notice that and made a comment about it after inquiring where I lived.

She was very interested in what I thought about China, etc, etc, and I made the obligatory comment that I think Chinese are always very friendly and helpful and that Sichuan women are always beautiful and she said "except for Carolina Girls - the best in the world." So I figure a Chinese lady standing in an Italian/French restaurant who has Tibetan beer
AND who knows Beach Music Lyrics by heart, well it had to be a pretty good day.

So, listen to the song that played during dinner (its possible only my family will appreciate this). But despite the claim - I know it was a good day.
Enjoy the chuckle!

Impossible for it to be a bad day when you meet a cute Chinese girl in China who knows the lyrics to a classic beach music song. The good thing is you didn't give her a bad day by telling her how bad the UNC football team is! But, like most UNC fans, I am sure she is anxiously waiting for bball season, probably been anxiously waiting for about three weeks now!
